A bottega is a craft workshop. Leather in Florence, ceramics in Deruta, violins in Cremona — each town has its speciality.
Cremona has made violins since the 1500s, and its makers still shape the wood with hand tools and their ears.
In Emilia-Romagna the workshops build engines: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Pagani and Ducati all grew up along the same road, the Via Emilia.
We call our strip of the Via Emilia the Motor Valley: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Ducati and Pagani were all born within an hour of each other.
