La sartoria

A Milan tailoring atelier

Did you know?

A sartoria is a tailor's workshop. Italian tailoring is famous for a soft shoulder and a light jacket that feels like a cardigan.

Milan is the fashion capital, but many of the best tailors still work in small family rooms in Naples and Rome, cutting cloth by hand.

Tortellini are a small folded pasta with meat in the center, and grandmothers here fold them by the hundred. Every kid has tried one raw! (But we don't recommend you do that.) At home we eat them in brodo โ€” in hot broth. Or, if you're my nonno - with lemon and parmigiano. Which is, of course, not acceptable for anyone else!

Adam is from Emilia-Romagna โ€” visit his home region.
